She is blonde. She is sweet. She is fun. She is smart. She is Codie Steensma ! You may have already met the lovely Codie if you took a peek at our Contributors section. This young writer/poet/hard worker is an amazing wonder woman of literature and surely a soon to be sensation!
Just becoming the person I am today gives (me) an edge –Codie
Codie took me to her neighborhood where she lives and interacts with the World between poetry classes. Since food is something we do have in common, she first took me to her fave spot in Chelsea, Tipsy Parson. I had the best cheesy grits as well as the best biscuit (basil and plenty other goodnesses) EVER ! The service was a bit cold, but the food totally made up for it. The place has a library-style wall paper (of course, what else in Codie’s fave restaurant), and a very cute old school bar. I enjoyed every minute in this Belly-Filling Goodness place. We chatted for a while, sipping on a Bloody Mary for her and a Peach Bellini for me 😉
We then went for a walk in Chelsea, heading towards the Flatiron building…We sat on the prettiest stairs, of the prettiest house, on the prettiest street. My camera loved discovering some of Codie’s 4 tatoos and snapping her cutie Givenchy heels beating the pavement!
This Michigan beauty is the perfect All Amercian Girl I used to imagine when I was 10 years old in France! And yet, she has such a European attitude, with cigarettes ready-to-smoke, elegantly packed in a metal box, tattoos, and no tights on! Talking about Europe, she just came back from a Solo-Berlin trip. I cannot wait to read her adventure on this blog!!! Coming Soon!
Hey Codie, what were you wearing that day ?
Cameo gold ring from Italy that was a gift from my mother, the other one is a gold ring with an emerald and diamonds that I bought when I was living in South Africa. The necklace is rose gold with a white sapphire.
“I really enjoy minimalism and wearing black and/or white, and then throwing in color with accessories like my shoes. I try to generally be classy with style, though I have my moments of edginess. Growing up in Michigan gave me the preppy side, being a poet gives me an artsy “hipster” vibe at times, and then just becoming the person I am today gives an edge. I enjoy wearing black a lot, but springtime calls for lighter colors and more play with patterns.”
Merci Codie <3
